A message from the founder and Director of Bhangra Nation

Hi everybody. This is Ranvir Rai, founder and Director of Bhangra Nation. I just want to chime in quickly on a couple of points.

After re-launching the website in April  2006 (Basakhi Day) I am  delighted in how it has grown to be the most useful and comprehensive sites dedicated to Bhangra. Nine years ago Bhangra Nation started off a new era in the world of Bhangra. From a small localized university event, Bhangra Nation became an international event by presenting the first ever international team from England and this year has progressed further by presenting the first ever Bhangra team from Punjab, India. Each year Bhangra Nation has set records and made history in the world of Bhangra.  This year marks a year where Bhangra Nation broke records in numerous categories, including:

• First Organization to be funded by the Government

• First Organization to be supported by Corporate sponsors

• First organization to have a Bhangra Dance studio to teach Bhangra, giddha and Dhol for free (Opening Soon).

• First organization to market an event via billboards

This is just a short list of endless achievements Bhangra Nation continues to make.  Over the years Bhangra Nation has become an instrumental organization in promoting Bhangra and each year we set standards to make a difference in promoting, educating and teaching Bhangra.  The best part about Bhangra Nation is that we have allowed organizations the opportunity to use our website content, sponsor packages, registration forms and Bhangra history materials for their events and website. 

This year Bhangra Nation attained the great support of corporate sponsors such as TELUS Mobility, Loblaws Companies, Presidents Choice, Bayer HealthCare, Canada Power Products Corporation and Survalent Technolgies. A LARGE THANK YOU GOES OUT TO ALL OF OUR SPONSORS!

To promote the further awareness of Bhangra in North America, Bhangra Nation has also advised corporate sponsors to support and assist in promoting other Bhangra events. Keep an eye out as our sponsors continue to make a difference in the world of Bhangra culture.

After implementing one of the first bhangra competitions outside of India, Bhangra Nation has continued to propel in promoting arts and culture.

So what's in store for the future?

We are committed to making more innovations and achievements each year with your help, and particularly those teams that register.  Hence with the support of corporate sponsors our goal for next year is to move to a larger venue that holds 10,000 people and with the support of corporate sponsors fly in every Bhangra team to be part of Bhangra Nation 11, 2007 World Bhangra & Dhol Competition.  With your help we can make this happen.
